In Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Nat Loh was given the task of bringing Spyro to life. It also allowed them to bring back the characters but also leave no time to give any back stories. This allowed the team to reintroduce the two characters in a way that was very fitting for the Skylanders universe. The end of the Legend of Spyro series left both Spyro and Cynder in a place that was left on a mystery. So they replace Fire Dragon with Spyro and he would go out on many adventures.ĭuring the development of the Skylanders universe, it was important for Toys for Bob to establish a new league of heroes, but also to honor the history of Spyro and Cynder. While he was originally going to be an npc, it didn't feel right to make a game called "Spyro's Kingdom", without Spyro as a playable character. Spyro was going to be the King of Spyro's Kingdom and you would go to him for quests. When the original concept of Spyro's Kingdom was on the underway, Toys for Bob originally had a character name "Fire Dragon" who was one of the playable heroes. Eventually the toys-to-life idea for Spyro's Kingdom came. They tried doing a "Realistic, gritty Spyro", a "tiny Spyro", and an "Origami Spyro". While looking for new ideas for the Spyro the Dragon, Activision and Toys for Bob tried multible concepts for the game.
